WHAT WE DO
Keeping families together to help kids heal and cope better
Every year, thousands of families travel to Portland and Bend to get the best medical care possible for their seriously ill or injured child. And for more than 30 years, our Ronald McDonald Houses® have offered these families comfort, support and a beautiful place to stay just moments away from their child’s bedside. Last year 2,041 families including 2,892 children stayed at our two Portland Houses. And since opening our doors, we have provided a “home away from home” for more than 37,000 families.
Our Houses are built on the simple idea that nothing else should matter when a family is focused on the health of their child — not where they will get their next meal or where they will lay their head at night to rest. Families are invited to stay at our Houses for free and offered meals and snacks, which removes a major barrier for families who may not be able to find alternative housing. In Portland, the average hotel costs $144 per night. At our Houses, it’s always $0.
In October 2016, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Oregon and Southwest Washington merged with Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Oregon to become one unified statewide organization with three beautiful Ronald McDonald Houses across Oregon. Due to this recent change, our Community Reports do not include the Bend Ronald McDonald House. Instead, we have included 2015 Audited Financials from the former Central Oregon Chapter and look forward to producing our first statewide Community Report in 2017.
Every year, we create an annual report to share family stories, and update donors and supporters about our programs and financial health. To review previous years’ reports, click on the icons below.
