WHAT WE DO
Keeping families together while kids receive hospital treatment
A family with a seriously ill child can spend long hours and many days at the hospital. At these times, simple comforts can be hard to come by — a toothbrush, a cookie, or a toy to play with.
The Hospitality Cart is a special pushcart stocked with hot drinks and toiletries for parents and snacks and toys for kids. Operated by volunteers, it reflects a partnership between RMHC and Randall Children's Hospital. The cart trundles between the hospital's neonatal ICU, pediatric ICU, and acute-care floors, and everything on it, from coffee to coloring books, is free.
For us, the Hospitality Cart is a way to extend the warmth and friendliness we’re known for beyond the walls of our three Oregon Ronald McDonald Houses and provide those families who need it a little extra comfort. It's also a conversation-starter: a way to spread the word about who we are, what we do, and how we help families in need. To date, the Hospitality Cart has served more than 2,000 children and their families.
