Hudson and his family arrived at the Ronald McDonald House during a time of intense uncertainty and confusion, far from the comforts of home. The newest addition to their family, Amelie, needed to stay in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit for an indefinite amount of time to receive the lifesaving care she so desperately needed.
“When we had Amelie four months premature, the stress was nearly unbearable. Looking back, I often think to myself, ‘If it weren’t for the Ronald McDonald House, I would’ve had a nervous breakdown.’ Being able to stay so close by with the ability to go back and forth day and night was priceless, all while still spending time with the rest of my children. As if that alone wasn’t enough, the staff went above and beyond to make our lives less stressful during an incredibly difficult season.
They welcomed us with open arms into a beautiful home. They provided breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. I didn’t even step foot into a grocery store the entire 159 days that we were there. They helped us with laundry and cleaning up after three busy boys. They provided hours of entertainment for our children through fun interactions, arts and crafts, a huge backyard, toys and games, Christmas presents and stockings, and even a visit from the Easter bunny.
We were treated like family – always given a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and hugs for the hard days. We cannot thank RMHC enough for the love and support they provided for our family!”
-Angie
Mom to Amelie, Hudson, Micah, and Bentley & Ronald McDonald House guest
When this family walked through the doors of our Ronald McDonald House, they felt relief. Angie and Daniel were able to breathe easier knowing that their family could stay together, close to the hospital where their Tiny Warrior was fighting for her life. And Hudson, Bentley, and Micah were able to continue being kids – playing, laughing, filling their bellies, and loving each other.
Today, your generosity is needed to continue to provide vital resources to families like Amelie’s.
Because while hosting a family costs Ronald McDonald House Charities over $150 a night, our guest families are never asked to pay. Your gift will help ensure that free, compassionate hospitality is always available to families when they need it most.
With a heart full of gratitude,
– All of us at RMHC
