At age six, Kayden fell while playing in his backyard, his head becoming lodged under a steel bar. He was life-flighted to OHSU and diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. His family stayed at RMHC for 3+ months during Kayden’s initial hospital visit, while he began his long recovery process.

RMHC provided Kayden’s family with all the essentials – a warm meal, clean laundry, a refreshing shower – allowing them to stay focused on Kayden’s health. “We were able to just be together as a family… surrounded by others with similar experiences, and staff that were very compassionate, understanding, and helpful,” says mom Mary. “As Kayden began to progress, it was so good for him to get to spend time outside of the hospital setting. Kayden loved the toy closet, music therapy, playroom, and craft rooms.” Today, Kayden continues to progress and amaze everyone around him.
