Rylee Betty Hope Akin
2020 Hockey Challenge Kid Captain
“RMHC gave us peace of mind and are an extended family and support system.” – Chrystal Akin Bruce (mom)
Since she was one year old, Rylee has lived with multiple conditions including epilepsy, pelvic floor disorder, a heart murmur, and learning delays. In 2015, Rylee had a marathon of specialist appointments at OHSU over three days. “We were relieved to stay at RMHC and not travel back and forth to our home in Hood River in between appointments,” says mom, Chrystal. “RMHC greatly reduced Rylee’s anxiety over her doctor’s visits and tests. Their caring staff is amazing and so helpful – we were able to relax and found such comfort in the therapy dogs that came by to visit. We especially enjoyed spending time with Bunnies in a Basket!”
Rylee currently stays at RMHC about six times a year; she still has her challenges but is doing quite well and is growing into an adventurous, caring, and creative young lady!
